"Jesus, Our Emmanuel" #PoetryMonday

Good afternoon, and welcome to another #PoetryMonday!
Today's poem is entitled, "Jesus, Our Emmanuel".
Often times we only think of "Jesus, Our Emmanuel" during the holidays, when we begin to reflect and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour. By posting this poem towards the end of summer, it gives us a chance to remind ourselves that God isn't just with us during the holidays. HE'S ALWAYS WITH US! When we're in the valley, He's with us; When we're afraid, He's with us; When we don't know which way to go, He's with us; In the morning, noon, and night; He's with us; And whether it be winter, springs, or fall, He's always with us! Thus, we can always count on him to hear our prayers.
Before you read the poem below, take a moment to read Isaiah Chapters 7, 8, and 9, and recap on how Isaiah, the prophet, proclaimed "God with us" to ease the fear of the people. Then, after reading the poem, look back on how God has been with and there for you! Whether He's brought us through emotionally, physically, or mentally, WE ALL HAVE A TESTIMONY!

Jesus, Our Emmanuel (God with Us)
In Isaiah 7, 8, and 9
A wondrous lesson God has taught.
Ahaz and Judah were in fear,
Their lives with dangers fraught.
But their relationship with God
Should have produced unfailing trust,
Said Isaiah, he’s “Immanuel”
Which means He’s “God with us”.
The fearful Judah fell to doubt
For Syria and Israel planned
To boldly vex God’s chosen seed
And to divide God’s land.
Isaiah, the prophet, comforted
Reminding them that God is just
He will be our Immanuel
And stand as “God with us”.
Prophets told Judah long ago
Your kingly scepter won’t depart
Until your great Messiah comes
May these words keep your heart.
God’s word since Abraham remains,
Let this your turmoils ever hush,
God’s righteous seed will flow through you –
That see is “God with us”.
To Ahaz then God added more
To make His promise ever sure
(Oh child of faith believe today –
Your victory is secure).
“Your virgin daughter shall conceive
And bear a son in whom you’ll trust
Forever may his chosen name
Remind that “God’s with us”.
God’s word in Mathew, Chapter one,
Verse 21 through 23,
Fulfills the prophecies of old
Right down to you and me.
A savior, Jesus, now is born
We are the seed of promise, thus
His “other name” Emmanuel
Declares He’s “God with us”.
Don’t doubt like Ahaz and his realm…
The Christmas message, year to year,
Should ever cause us to rejoice –
Let faith displace all fear.
Lord, speak through all these holidays,
Despite our business and fuss,
Remind us you’re Emmanuel –
Forever, “God with us”.
